Acoustic Decoupling and Supporting Load Distribution

LLS-200 combines excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties and is applicable as filling material between ceiling beams in storey floors. It also redistributes floor load onto the underlying structures. LLS-200 can be compacted to increase the load distribution properties.

If wooden leveling strips are used underneath flooring tiles or boards, LLS-200 should be compacted and screed. The whole flooring area contributes to the load contributions -- the load distribution capacity of the leveling strips is not dominating.

Insulation of Impact Noise and Acoustic Pressure

LLS-200 consists of hemp chippings coated by clay. The hemp chippings on their own already absorbs acoustic pressure. The clay agglutinates the chippings -- that combination can absorb sound in lower frequencies, due to increased energy dispersion.

The absorption of impact noise is dominated by the decoupling of different flooring layers -- the actual filling material has little influence. Impact noise reduction systems are thus always floating constructions. LLS-200 is compacted, and the upper flooring layers (usually wooden tiles or boards) are mounted on top, without direct contact to the underlying base construction.

LLS-200 is delivered in 100 ltr. bags.

We recommend the us of kiln dried wooden flooring. Allow the filling to rest for 2 days, to acclimatize to the natural humidity if the environment.

Filling Density vs. Nominal Density

A bag of LLS-200 contains 100 ltr with nominal density. When poured out, the resulting bulk volume is about 150 ltr. When processed (raked), the material settles back to its original volume, as delivered. The material is, in that condition, not load distributing -- for that purpose it needs to be compacted further.

Construction Height

Filling with the purpose of load distriubution should be banked up by 5%.

Rammer for Hemp-Clay-Filling

Planing and Compating

Light stamping with a wooden rammer helps the filling to settle while flattening the surface. That process will also align the hmp chippings and remove remaining air pockets. The rammer should not be heavy -- a wooden cross and handle are sufficient.

Skirting Boards

Skirting Boards and wall connection tiles are to be installed after the load-induced setteling is completed, as mentioned at an expected 5%.

Material

LLS-200 consists of hemp chippings with a thin coating of rich clay. The resulting solid matter is resistent to grinding, crushing and degrading even under pressure. It thus shows no subsequent loss of volume, nor related sagging of the upper flooring layers.

Elongated Shape

Hemp chippings used in LLS-200 have an elongated shape, reducing its ability to move under variable pressure. This specifically supports material stability underneath walking areas.

Aglutinating Effect of Clay Coating

The clay coated hemp chippings agglutanate due to their elongated shape and the adhesive properties of the rich clay. Once dried, the material forms a gapless, solid and stable volume.

Floor Construction

LLS-200 is to be leveled and compacted at 5% additional height. Adding the floor screed will reduce the overall height; resting and floor usage will reduce it further, to a total of 5%. Any later flooring or attachment work needs to take that reduction into account. Specifically, that reduction influences the final position of the skirting boards.
